The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab has ridiculed the statement of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over the special session of Punjab Vidhan Sabha slated for October 19. The AAP alleged that the former party chief (Rahul Gandhi), who virtually ran away from raising the pitch against the Modi government on the anti-farmer laws, was now resorting to theatrics through the Punjab Assembly, to cover up the Himalayan blunder he made in Parliament.
In a joint statement issued from party headquarters, senior leader Kultar Singh Sandhwan, Prof. Baljinder Kaur, Jai Krishan Singh Rouri and Kulwant Singh Pandori (All MLAs) fired a poser to Punjab Congressmen “What was point behind Rahul Gandhi’s absence from Parliament when the contentious black anti-agriculture laws were being tabled fror discussion?”.
Kultar Singh Sandhwan and Jai Singh Rouri said that comparing the strength of Parliament with state Vidhan Sabha was a churlish idea on the part of congress leader. He said had Rahul Gandhi passed a whip to Congress MPs in both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha to raise their voice against the deadly laws in Parliament, it would have made sense, adding that he (Rahul Gandhi) could not hide his incompetence in Parliament by making statements through the Punjab Assembly.
Prof. Baljinder Kaur and Kulwant Singh Pandori on the occasion said that by projecting Rahul Gandhi as the champion of the farmers’ causes, the Congress party was trying to play with the sentiments of the people of Punjab, especially farmers. The AAP leaders warned the Congress that Rahul Gandhi should not consider the land of Punjab a place for political opportunism.
They reiterated that the Congress party, in its manifesto for 2019 Lok Sabha elections had proposed similar farm laws, which suggested that both Modi and Rahul were anti-farmers when it came to enact laws for ameliorating their lot?
