Shiromani Akali Dal President Sukhbir Singh Badal today strongly condemned two incidents of sacrilege of Sri Guru Grant Sahib ji in Fatehgarh Sahib district and demanded exemplary punishment for those guilty of these heinous crime.

In a statement released here, the SAD President said it was shocking that incidents of sacrilege of Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji were continuing unabated and that two such ghastly incidents had occurred in village Takhan Majra and Jalla villages of the Fatehgarh Sahib. He said though one of those guilty of perpetrating this crime had been nabbed on the spot, other guilty should also be traced without any delay and handed over exemplary punishments.

Mr Badal also castigated the Congress Government for failing to act against earlier acts of sacrilege including the 100 year old Swaroop which had gone missing from a gurdwara in Patiala district. He said had the Congress Government taken decisive action in the case and traced the culprits such incidents of sacrilege would not have occurred in the neighbouring district of Fatehgarh Sahib.
