Rahul, Priyanka along with three other party leaders allowed to move Hathras

SIT will look into all issues raised by the family: with DGP

In a dramatic twist following massive police arrangements and traffic chaos, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi Vadra and his sister Priyanka Gandhi along with three other party leaders, were on Saturday allowed to meet the family of the 19-year-old Hathras girl who died four days ago after being allegedly gang-raped by 'upper-caste men'.

Succeeding in his second attempt to meet the victim's family, Rahul made the announcement from the Delhi-Noida Direct (DND) flyway where he, Congress General Secretary Priyanka and various Congress MPs and supporters were stopped by the police from entering Uttar Pradesh in the afternoon, leading to massive traffic jams with people stuck on the 9.2-km stretch for more than one hour."Five Congress leaders have been allowed to visit Hathras, " announced Rahul Gandhi.

Sources said that Congress leaders KC Venugopal, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury and PL Puniya will be accompanying Rahul and Priyanka to Hathras.

The 19-year-old girl, who died on Tuesday at Delhi's Safdarjung Hospital, suffered fractures, paralysis and a spinal injury after the savage assault

Meanwhile The SIT will look into all issues raised by the family of the 19-year-old Dalit woman in Hathras, and the strictest action will be taken against the culprits, Uttar Pradesh Additional Chief Secretary, Home, Awanish Awasthi, said on Saturday after meeting the victim's kin here.

A decision has also been taken for providing security permanently in the village, the senior officer, who along with DGP H C Awasthy rushed to meet the victim's family on the instructions of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, said.

He said orders for the suspension of police personnel, including the Superintendent of Police and the Circle Officer of the area, were issued on Friday within two hours of receiving the first report from the Special Investigation Team (SIT).
The officer said that they would submit a report to the chief minister.
