Chandigarh reported 332 new coronavirus cases on Wednesday

Chandigarh reported 332 new coronavirus cases on Wednesday, a health bulletin said in the evening---the second day the union territory has reported over 300 cases. The UT's tally now stands at 6, 704 infections, 37 per cent of which are still active. Chandigarh also reported two deaths, taking its death toll to 77.

A 30-year-old man from Dhanas died at the Government Medical College and Hospital in Sector 32 on Wednesday. He had tubercular meningitis and hemiparesis, a condition characterised by weakness of one side of the body.

The second fatality was a 76-year-old woman from Khuda Jassu who was diabetic and had hypertension. She died at the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research on September 9.

The development also comes on a day when Mohali also reported 307 new COVID cases---its highest single-day rise yet since it first reported infections in March---and eight deaths. Panchkula meanwhile reported 143 new cases and three deaths.
