Webinar dedicated to 400th Parkash Purb of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib

Patiala, 5 September:- Department of Punjabi Literary Studies, Punjabi University, Patiala organized a two day webinar dedicated to 400th  Parkash Purb of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib. On the first day of the webinar today, many eminent speakers presented their views. While presenting the inaugural address, Prof. B.S. Ghuman, Vice-Chancellor, said that Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib has laid such a great example of martyrdom before the entire world as was seen nowhere else in the history of mankind. Guru Sahib fought for the religious freedom of others. He said that Guru Sahib's philosophy and teachings can be a guiding spirit for all of us in the world if we want to be free of all kinds of nefaraious and evil designs of dividing the people. His teachings can lead us on the path of peace and progress.

Dr. Bhiminder Singh, HoD, briefed about various speakers in the webinar. He said that it was a great matter of pride for them to hold this webinar. He specially thanked the Punjab Government and the Vice-Chancellor Prof. Ghuman for holding this webinar.

 Dr. Jagbir Singh, who was keynote speaker, said that Guru Tegh Bahadur was a great thinker and his Gurbani lead us to optimism which is its utmost greatness. He said that Guru ji himself led such a life that he preached others to live. It is a need of the hour that we understand his philosophy and teachings in a true spirit and thus contribute to the society in a right manner.

Dr. Nivedita Singh very beautifully presented her viewpoints by reciting the shabads from Gurbani. Others who expressed their viewpoints in this webinar were Dr. Parmeet Kaur, Dr. Jasbir Kaur, Dr. Veerpal Kaur Sidhu, Dr. Paramvir Singh, Dr. Surinder Dhanjal (Canada) and Dr. Harjodh Singh. Dr. Rajinder Lehri proposed the vote of thanks.  Dr. Daljit Singh, Dr. Baljit Kaur Jammu University, Jammu, Dr. Dhanwant Kuar and Dr. Atma Singh remained present in this webinar.
