Chandigarh, August 25
Chandigarh reported 174 new COVID-19 infections on Tuesday---the highest single-day rise the union territory has seen thus far---taking its case tally to 3, 209, a health bulletin said. The UT has 1, 454 active cases.
Three more deaths took the UT's fatality count from COVID-19 to 40.
A 51-year-old woman from Sector 44 died Government Medical College and Hospital at Sector 32. She had pre-existing heart problems.
A 70-year-old woman from Palsora who died at the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research also had heart problems and was also diabetic.
The third fatality was an 80-year-old man from Sector 33 was diabetic, had hypertension, hypothyroidism and CNS Lymphoma. He died at Mohali's Sohana Hospital.
